Working with Components

Dashboard components snap into place to aid you in your designs. It is also easy to Copy, Duplicate, and Delete components.
Components are the building blocks of your dashboards. With them, you can build complex arrangements of charts. Or, you can build internal tools to easily and intuitively update your databases. Arctype provides all kinds of components to aid you in creating your internal tools, from the basic charts and tables, to all kinds of buttons, inputs, and progress indicators.
The dashboard components snap into place to aid you in your designs. It is also easy to Copy, Duplicate, and Delete components. Chart and Table components are special. You can open the query or transform they get their data from, or convert them into each other (e.g. convert a table into a chart.)

Copy a Component

To copy a component, first, click it. A blue outline should surround it indicating it has been selected. Then, left-click anywhere in the dashboard and select Copy Component. You can then paste the component with the shortcut cmd-v. If you would like to paste it into a certain location, left-click that part of the dashboard and select Paste Component.

Duplicate a Component

To duplicate a component, again click it first. A blue outline should surround it indicating it has been selected. Then, left-click anywhere in the dashboard and select Duplicate Component. A copy of the component will appear to the right of your selected component.

Delete a Component

To delete a component, again click it first. A blue outline should surround it indicating it has been selected. Then, left-click on the component and select Delete Component. The component will be removed, but you can still undo this action by clicking cmd-z.

Open Query Powering Component

To open the query powering a chart or table, again click it first. A blue outline should surround it indicating it has been selected. Then, left-click anywhere in the dashboard and select Open Query. The query will open in a new tab.
This only applies to Charts and Tables

Converting a Table to a Chart (and vice versa)

To convert a table to a chart, first, click it. A blue outline should surround it indicating it has been selected. Then, left-click anywhere in the dashboard and select Convert to Chart Component (or Convert to Table Component if your component is a Chart.) If you are converting a table to a chart, you will need to specify the chart type and the columns for the chart.
